Established in 1932, Sunrise Ford of Fort Pierce, Florida understands the importance of lighting when it comes to driving customers to the lot, selling vehicles, increasing security, and protecting its customers. The dealership needed to upgrade both their lot and service bay lighting to boost vehicle visibility, improve security, and create a safer work environment—while…
The Challenge
Parking garage and lot lighting serves many critical purposes in commercial settings. The illumination needs to provide even coverage and minimal shadows to ensure the safety and security of the property and its occupants. For an automotive dealership, proper lighting is essential for showcasing inventory, maintaining security, and providing safe working conditions for service technicians.
Sunrise Ford faced multiple lighting challenges across their facility. Their old Metal Halide lot lighting wasn’t effectively highlighting their vehicle inventory or providing adequate security coverage. In the service bays, the existing strip fixtures had exposed lamps that were being damaged frequently, and the facility needed sturdy, damp location rated fixtures that were also aesthetically pleasing.
Finding the Right Solution
The company and its electrical contractor, Richmond Electric, worked with the CES outside sales team and CES Branch Manager to select the best lighting products to achieve their goals. Rather than a simple fixture replacement, the team took a comprehensive approach to address each area’s specific requirements.
The collaborative process involved evaluating different lighting technologies and fixture types to ensure the best match for each application—from highlighting vehicles on the lot to providing safe working conditions in repair bays.
The Implementation
To highlight the vehicle inventory on the lot and enhance security, Sunrise Ford replaced their old Metal Halide lot lighting with Tamlite Lighting LPFLED floodlights. These versatile LED lights can be mounted on a trunnion, slipfitter or polearm, providing installation flexibility.
The clear glass lens provides clean, even light distribution and increases footcandle levels, which reduces shadows and provides maximum illumination of the parking lot. The crisp, bright illumination highlights the finish and design of the vehicles while maintaining conformity with existing fixtures and enhancing overall security.
For the repair bays, the dealership replaced their problematic lighting with SLWLEDT8 fixtures. These wide strip luminaries create a bright, uniform environment that enables service technicians to work safely within vehicle compartments in both engine and repair areas. The even distribution of lighting helps ensure a safe working environment.
The covered garage area received CTNLEDT8-D4 gasketed LED tube fixtures, ideal for outdoor applications and wet environments. These long-lasting, energy-efficient vapor tight fixtures require minimal maintenance, saving both time and money.
Results That Deliver
The lighting upgrade achieved all of Sunrise Ford’s objectives. The new LED system increased energy efficiency and reduced operating expenses while dramatically improving visibility and security across the facility.
“The customer is excited with the new lighting plan,” noted the CES Outside Sales Representative. The installation was completed efficiently, taking less than four weeks from start to finish.
The dealership now benefits from enhanced vehicle presentation on the lot, improved security coverage, safer working conditions for technicians, and reduced maintenance requirements. The LPFLED low-profile flood lights provide excellent light quality and energy savings, while the vapor tight fixtures eliminate the frequent lamp damage issues they previously experienced.
“The customer was blown away with the quote and the accessibility of the products. It was a win-win,” concluded the project team.
Sunrise Ford’s comprehensive lighting upgrade demonstrates how the right lighting solution can simultaneously improve operations, reduce costs, and enhance the customer experience.
