The Slade at Channelside
Parking garage lighting is an important element in commercial lighting design as it serves many purposes. The illumination needs to provide even coverage and minimal shadows to ensure the safety and security of the property and its occupants.
Viking Electric of Tampa Bay worked with Jason Strait, outside sales rep for CES-Tampa South, on an upscale apartment garage job at The Slade at Channelside. Together, they walked the site and noticed the old fluorescent & LED fixtures had exposed lamps with poor output. These were significant issues for the customer as the safety and security of its residents was a high-priority.
“The old strip fixtures had exposed lamps that were being damaged frequently,” said Jason. “The site needed a sturdy, damp location rated fixture that is also aesthetically pleasing. The CTNLEDT8-D4 was a great choice for the covered garage area, while the LPFLED was an excellent choice for the rooftop floods.”
The CTNLED gasketed LED tube fixture is ideal for outdoor applications and wet environments. These long-lasting, energy-efficient vapor tight fixtures require minimal maintenance which saves time and money.
The LPFLED low-profile flood light is a low-maintenance, energy-efficient fixture that provides great light quality, and savings.
“The customer was blown away with the quote and the accessibility of the products. The install took less than four weeks. It was a win-win.”
Sunrise Ford
Established in 1932, Sunrise Ford of Fort Pierce, Florida understands the importance of lighting when it comes to driving customers to the lot, selling vehicles, increasing security, and protecting its customers.
The company and its electrical contractor, Richmond Electric, worked with Brian Smith, CES outside sales, and CES Branch Manager Dale Rondeau to select the best lighting products to achieve their goals.
To highlight the vehicle inventory on the lot, and enhance security, the company replaced its old Metal Halide lot lighting with Tamlite Lighting LPFLED floodlights. These LED lights can be mounted on a trunnion, slipfitter or polearm.
The clear glass lens provides clean even light distribution and increases the current footcandle which reduces shadows and provides maximum illumination of the parking lot. Additionally, the crisp, bright illumination highlights the finish and design of the vehicles. All of which achieved their goals of maintaining conformity with current fixtures, highlighting the aesthetics of the vehicles, and enhancing security.
The customer also replaced the repair bay lighting with SLWLEDT8 fixtures. These wide strip luminaries create a bright, uniform environment that enables its service technicians safely to work within vehicle compartments in both the engine and repair areas. Additionally, the even distribution of lighting helps to ensure a safe working environment.
Sunrise Ford of Fort Pierce’s use of LED lamps increased their energy-efficiency and reduced their expenses.
The customer is excited with the new lighting plan and can’t wait to see the installation completed,” said Brian Smith, Outside Sales Rep, CES.
Speedway Indy Fire Station
When ensuring public safety is your mission, maintaining a safe work environment is evident. At Speedway Fire Department in Speedway, Indiana, safety is the primary goal, each and every day.
It is this focus that led to upgrading lighting fixtures throughout the station’s vehicle bays and storage areas. Chris Proctor, Operations Manager for CES, worked with the station Chief to understand his lighting goals.
“The station chief wanted to replace the old, expensive halogen lighting with brighter, more efficient LEDs,” Proctor said. “They need a well-lit space with few shadows to properly inspect and maintain the trucks & equipment.”
Proctor worked with Thomas Fraizer, Sales Rep for TAMCO Group, to create an appropriate lighting layout to achieve the customer’s goals.
“Thomas went above and beyond. He did a walkthrough of the building and met the customer with me. Then he and Lindsey Williams (Quote Specialist for TAMCO) created lighting layouts that achieved proper illumination of the space,” stated Proctor.
The lighting plan utilized Tamlite Lighting’s SLWLED4 narrow strip fixtures for the main truck bay, the side bay, and a small equipment area. These energy-efficient fixtures illuminate the space edge-to-edge; fewer fixtures – brighter lighting. This update will continue to achieve greater energy and cost savings over the years.
“The fire chief loved the upgrade and they are able to see any dirt or damage to trucks as well as keep a safe working environment,” said Proctor. “He indicated that they would upgrade other stations as well.”
Santa Fe College
When it comes to keeping its campus safe, Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL spares no expense. That’s why upgrading its dim and dark parking lot lighting was of utmost importance. To do this, Santa Fe College sought the help of TAMCO Rep. Bruce Thompson and Mark Wells of City Electric Supply to provide a solution.
Thompson and Wells made several trips to Santa Fe College in order to figure out what lighting the campus needed. “We provided them with some samples to see what would be the best fit,” said Wells. They found that the Tamlite Lighting LPFLED series large flood provided just what was needed.
The large light distribution of the LPFLED provided better visibility in the parking lot, allowing students and faculty to feel safer walking to their cars at night. “The campus police are very happy with the new lighting,” said Wells. “Most importantly, nighttime safety has improved tremendously.”
